Candy (aka Peep-a-liscious)

Originally posted on: Tuesday, March 27, 2007

Candy – love it. I always have some around.

Holiday candy – you can always rely on these nicely bagged, foil covered tasty pieces of sweetness. I always get a few bags of this holiday stuff becasue you know these bags have not been sitting on the store shelf for a long period of time. Just made and shipped to a retailer for you.

Tightly wrapped foils in colors; pinks, red, greens, yellows, purples, blues…. depending on the holiday season, depends on the style, holiday shape and flavor of the candy.

Today it was an adventure. Walgreens. Sale on candy… four bags of mix and match chocolates and other funky jelly-ized, sugar covered, squishy, sweet, sour, mixed and more. Four for ten dollars.

Not only did I discover the new Dove eggs, but there were Nestle crunchy foiled eggs filled with peanut butter center, needless to say I think it was lunch for me (bad, yeah I know). Then there was the entire row of “peeps” dedicated to an entire shelf . Nicely lined boxes of peeps, all at attention, ready to march or perhaps they were lined up there protesting for better, higher shelf space… couldn’t quite tell.
(In case you aren’t sure what peeps are… ….Peeps are marshmallow preserved, bunny and chick shaped what-every-a-call-its that seem to have an endless shelf life). Sorry kids, I love candy, but can’t seem to get into the “peep” whirlwind and cult addiction of it all.

Finally there were the Cadbury eggs with the weird egg colored gooey centers. (Apparently these are a gluten free food for all you intestinally challenged peeps out there). Too funny.

The downside of this is that this round of this sugar infused adventure, this is it for holiday candy for a while. At least until any sort of back to school special or Halloween. Stock up now I say…. at least get a carton of “peep’s if in the event you need a massive sugar rush or to experience a sugar coma and can’t wait until October!

An Avenger-ous Profession

Funny how life imitates art…. or is it that art imitates life… in any event there were many things that I wanted to be as a young child, the most impressionable icon I can recall is the TV series, The Avengers. Diana Rigg as Emma Peel, in my eyes, she was the coolest and most impressionistic person on television. She dressed in boots and leather, (mostly black attire as well which was the ultimate bonus) carried a firearm and had that ever so fashionable “flip” hairstyle that could stop a bullet.
What a great profession.

Where else can you wear black leather fitted outfits, carry a firearm and have awesomely cool hair. I was convinced at an early age that this was indeed the job for me.

I had an array of several different professions in my scope of jobs… I was a cake decorator in the late 70′s, because a florist (floral designer) in the early 80′s… ended up selling automobiles in the late 80′s then ventured down the road into high tech for almost 20 years being a test engineer for software to a web techie-junkie with some of the most prominent and cutting edge companies in existence today.

Regardless of all of the “other experiences” I have had… I am a full time artist, a painter, creator an Avenger to the all mightly brush, a dedicated companion to my arsenal of paints and creativity and a rebel with a cause.

Emma Peel (Diana Rigg) you and I are in sync, there will be a day that we will walk down the same avenue together, same sidewalk, same vision.

I love the challenge, I love the vision, I desire the pressure and feed on the deadline… Thank you.
