TO PRODUCE “ART BY THE POUND”.

SANTA CLARA, Calif., October 10, 2005 – Sonya Paz, a Santa Clara-based artist, and Tim Schaible, a Petaluma-based artist, are partnering with Humane Society Silicon Valley (HSSV) to offer a unique event for those who love art and animals. “Art by the Pound” will feature animals available for adoption though HSSV and artwork from Sonya and Tim.

“Art by the Pound” will be held at the Sonya Paz Fine Art Gallery (www.sonyapaz.com), which is located at 1793 Lafayette Street, Suite 110, in Santa Clara on Saturday, October 15 from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and on Sunday, October 16 from 12 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. A percentage of the proceeds will go directly to HSSV. The special exhibit will continue to be displayed at the Sonya Paz Fine Art Gallery until October 22.

“We are so pleased to be working with these talented artists, and truly appreciate their support of our animal community,” said Christine Benninger, President of Humane Society Silicon Valley. “We partner with veterinary professionals, government leaders, and a broad range of animal advocacy groups to increase the number of animals adopted into new homes and decrease the number of animals who become homeless.”

Sonya Paz and Tim Schaible said, “We both hold a deep affection for animals, and we felt that our partnership provided a perfect opportunity to give something back to the animal community.” Tim added, “Sonya’s designs and my art are complementary, so we thought this would be a worthwhile event to host, and her gallery just happened to be right around the block from the pound.”

“Animals are one of the many causes I support, and having partnered recently with the National Breast Cancer Foundation, I was inspired to do something creative locally that would help to provide homes for animals in need,” said Sonya.
